Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Minimum Certificate 4 level qualification or a minimum of two years of demonstrated vocational experience in a social health care setting
- Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the impacts these issues have on Indigenous Australian societies and cultures and health
- Ability to work within relevant legislative frameworks
- Experience in using computer software
- Organisational skills, self-confidence and the ability to work with general supervision to assess priorities, organise workloads and meet deadlines
- Ability to revolve conflict or solve problems in discussion with clinical supervisor as required
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisational staff and other providers
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally with a wide range of people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government and other agencies, committees and other bodies
- Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment of workplace diversity, workplace participation, work health and safety.
Desirable:
- Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service or Primary Health Care setting
- Experience in undertaking social health assessments
- Knowledge of existing social / health issues within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, social behaviour and aspirations of Aboriginal people
