The Aboriginal Liaison AOD Treatment Worker works within Odyssey House NSW (OHNSW) Programs to provide specialised AOD Treatment Services and Case Management within the OHNSW Model of Care (MoC). The purpose of this position is to assist in the development, implementation and delivery of an AOD service model that is culturally appropriate and meets the needs of Indigenous communities within the Sydney Region.
Specialised AOD treatment services will include comprehensive and brief assessment, group facilitation, one-on-one AOD treatment support, and case management including coordination of care and appropriate referral.
Essential Criteria:
- This is an identified position for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), to meet the specific needs of the community.
- Relevant VET qualification e.g. Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs
- Significant experience supporting persons with alcohol and other drugs support needs, mental health support needs and/or co-existing support needs within Indigenous communities.
- An understanding of health issues that affect Indigenous peoples.
- Able to demonstrate ability to facilitate and deliver a range of culturally appropriate health promotion and education programs within the community.
- Demonstrable experience working in team environment to deliver coordinated support.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking brief and comprehensive assessment as well as ongoing assessment of client support needs.
- Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office Suite and use of Client Management Systems (CMS’s).
- Demonstrable communication skills including report writing, case note writing.
- Understanding of the principles of the Privacy Act and its practical implementation in service delivery.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment, harm minimisation, care coordination and support strategies.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implement the principles of WHS, EEO and continuous Quality Improvement.
Desirable Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field.
- Experience working within a non-government AOD treatment program.
- Experience in provision of one-to-one support for people with AOD and/or Mental Health support needs.
