Outer East Foodshare Inc (OEF) is a local not-for-profit organisation run by a volunteer board. It provides a conduit between food rescue organisations and a number of local Emergency Food Relief Agencies (EFRA) within the Melbourne Outer East region. We collect food from agencies such as supermarkets, Oz Harvest, SecondBite, Fareshare and local food producers.

OEF’s operations have increased significantly over the past 24 months and the need to manage growth in a sustainable way is essential to ensure we can continue to provide food to agencies who depend on us.

We have gone from collecting and distributing 70,000 kg two years ago to potentially over 200,000 kg this calendar year.

OEF has a distribution Hub in Wantirna and has over 30 volunteers and two food transport vans.

We are seeking a volunteer to join the Board and assist in growing and managing our operations and who has logistics or similar experience to work with our volunteer community.

The position will be focused on logistics and have input in the management of the Hub and logistics operations involving our delivery van.

The Board meets six times per year, with two face-to-face and four on-line.

We have four sub-committees. It is expected that the person will either sit on or have input into the Food Management sub-committee

Duties include:

• Prepare for Board meetings
• Provide advice on managing the Hub
• Develop logistic plan for our van
• Assist with planning and implementing our strategy
• Input on sustainable growth
• Contribute to funding applications
• Liaise with agencies
