The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Queensland (RSPCA Qld) is the state’s oldest, largest and leading animal welfare charity. It is dedicated to improving the lives of all domestic, farmed and native animals throughout Queensland.
The role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a highly visible and high-profile position in the sector due to RSPCA Queensland’s role in animal welfare, advocacy and public education.
In this role you will lead an organisation that currently rehomes more animals than any other organisation in the Southern Hemisphere caring for 42,000 animals and helping 9,825 animals find new homes last year alone.
Working closely with the Board, 450 staff, government and key stakeholders (including more than 3,000 volunteers) the CEO will be charged with providing visionary and strategic leadership to advance the mission of RSPCA Queensland.
With a $50M annual turnover required to support caring operations and only 5% of that coming from government, The Society has established a number of commercial operations (World for Pets; RSPCA Op Shops; School for Pets, and Pets at Rest) to supplement revenue alongside traditional fundraising streams including donations, bequest and sponsorship to fund its work.
You will broadly be responsible for leadership and strategy; operational oversight; fundraising and development; external relations & advocacy; and governance & board relations.
The Board is seeking candidates with a demonstrated history of leadership in executive, and particularly CEO roles. You must have a strong interest in, and preparedness to engage with the community, alongside genuine care for animals and their wellbeing.
