If so, you could be part of our small, growing, dynamic team and make a difference to older people. You will assist in the creation and coordination of OPAN’s marketing activities. This includes our webinars and events that raise the awareness of aged care rights, elder abuse and issues in the aged care system. You will create and review content. You will amplify, clarify and simplify messaging and communications so that the voice and rights of the older people are heard, and action is sought.

About OPAN

OPAN is a national network of independent member organisations that give a voice to older people who are eligible or receiving aged care services. The network provides free, confidential, aged care advocacy, information and education to older Australians, their families or representatives. We are independent of the government and aged care providers.

OPAN, the national body, works with the government to influence aged care policy through systemic advocacy. The nine state and territory member organisations deliver advocacy services for older people across Australia. Our collective vision is of a society where older people are heard, informed and respected, and where they can enjoy and exercise their rights to live fulfilling lives.

About the role

Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, you will assist in the creation and coordination of OPAN’s marketing activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and contribute to online and social media content and advertising (currently Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter)
  • Acquire the latest media consumption data for seniors
  • Develop, maintain and monitor partnerships with appropriate publications/websites, media, aged care sector, aged care provider peaks and relevant community associations
  • Distribute printed collateral to SDOs, aged care providers and other relevant organisations
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of use short videos for information & education
  • Develop appropriate promotional material including brochures, cards, banners, publications, annual reports and submissions
  • Assist with logistics, planning and promotion of OPAN events (online and face-to-face forums)
  • Develop, post and share regular social media and website updates
  • Support implementation of processes for appropriate review and editing of public-facing collateral
  • Coordinate the production of a regular newsletter and distribute to selected clients, supporters, stakeholders and media contacts
  • Share OPAN digital and social media linkages to relevant aged care, elder abuse and community-based organisations
  • Coordinate the development of promotional messages and collateral
  • Maintain OPAN website, and contribute to the development and logistics for delivery of digital products, webinars and social media
  • Provide input to review and approval processes for OPAN collateral prior to public release
  • Monitor and coordinate responses through OPAN shared generic email boxes
  • Promote and manage OPAN education materials (e.g. Talk to Us First training), explainer videos and mobile apps
  • Regularly review website analytics
  • Regularly review social media analytics – currently Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter
  • Focus test ads and brochures, where appropriate
  • Maintain OPAN Publications Register

About you (selection criteria)

  • Minimum of two years’ experience across marketing, communications and digital
  • Experience with digital and social media
  • A passion for upholding the rights of older people
  • Experience with media liaison (highly desirable)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse people
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Service orientated
  • High attention to detail
  • A self-starter, who takes the initiative to get things done
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or related field and/or appropriate experience to deliver the requirements of the role

The successful applicant will hold or be able to obtain a current National Criminal Record Check.
