Optometry Australia is the peak professional membership body representing over 85% of registered optometrists across the nation. We are committed to supporting our members with essential services, resources and advocacy that enable them to thrive in the ever-evolving optometry sector.

The Role

In this role, you’ll play a key part in enhancing member engagement and promoting the value of Optometry Australia’s services and events. Your work will involve creating compelling written, visual and digital content and coordinating member communications. You’ll also contribute to our social media presence and help reinforce the Optometry Australia brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications across multiple channels, including eDM, SMS, social media and websites.
  • Promote events, tools and resources to our members to aid in membership satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure effective promotion and evaluate the success of communication strategies.
  • Contribute to the success of the Promote unit by managing assigned responsibilities, supporting team members and participating in planning discussions.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is not only skilled but also aligns with our values of integrity, respect and teamwork. You are a positive and collaborative individual who contributes to a supportive and dynamic work culture, helping to ensure that our team remains strong and cohesive.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in marketing and communications (experience within a membership organisation is an advantage but not essential).
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to create engaging content across multiple digital channels.
  • Experience in digital platforms like WordPress, MailChimp and social media tools.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the health sector, particularly in optometry, is an advantage but not essential.
