The Council for Intellectual Disability (CID) is a disability rights organisation led by people with Intellectual Disability. With a vision for a community where everyone is valued and has access to the same opportunities, CID works to build a community that enables, protects rights and supports people. CID doesn’t just say this, with people with Intellectual Disability having a majority, on the Board it is at the centre of everything they do.
As a peak body, CID has a strong positive reputation locally and nationally and is a leader in advocating for positive change, collaborating and undertaking advocacy, information services, capacity building projects and fee for service business which advances the rights of people with Intellectual Disability. CID develops resources, workshops and shares stories whilst focusing on issues front of mind for people with Intellectual Disability.
Reporting to the CID Board , the Chief Executive Officer will lead with vision, to bring to life and build on CID’s strategic vision, drive advocacy, awareness and action. The CEO works with the leadership team to ensure CID impacts the community, promotes social justice and delivers quality projects as contracted. For this appointment CID are seeking a proven leader from the Human Services sector who works to enable other’s success and achievements and is comfortable working alongside people with lived experience and expertise. You will have a track record of running a high performing business or organisation, driving strategic initiatives, leading and developing effective teams, supporting culturally safe environments, and empowering staff to provide quality services with a focus on continuous improvement.
Experience working collaboratively with voluntary Boards to set a clear strategy and business focus will also be highly regarded. Candidates with the following skillsets and experience are encouraged to apply:
