Your new team

Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Orygen @ Home is an acute service which provides access to care 24-hours, 7-days per week by a multidisciplinary team to young people aged 12-25 and their families/carers in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs.

Your new role:

  • Draw on your lived experience of supporting your family member or significant other, and offer empathetic listening, providing peer support and information
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and provide lived experience specific values and perspective
  • Have a broad understanding of the differing perspectives of the impact of mental ill health on families/carers and the community
  • Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds

About you:

  • Lived experience as a carer of a young person accessing youth mental health services and ability to share experiences in a recovery focused way
  • Experience in delivering peer work in mental health, ideally in a youth-specific setting
  • Passion, energy and determination to make a difference to the health outcomes for young people
  • Qualifications/training in mental health are desirable but not required

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check, and where applicable, Working With Children Check (WWCC).
