About the job

The Grants and Proposal Writer is responsible for writing high-quality, coherent and compelling fundraising proposals for individual philanthropists, corporate philanthropists and trusts and foundations.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising you will:

  • Write and edit philanthropic proposals for individual philanthropists, corporate philanthropists and/or trusts and foundations and undertake research to identify opportunities to apply to Philanthropic Trusts & Foundations.
  • Develop a calendar of submission/application opportunities and maintain a grants calendar.
  • Generating funds through applications for grants in order to successfully meet predetermined monetary goals.
  • Regularly updating relevant records on Raisers Edge to reflect the status of all Grant applications, tender and proposals and funds obtained.

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • A bachelor’s degree qualification in English, Creative Writing or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • A positive attitude and ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to understand and translate to a lay audience, activities, objectives and strategic direction of Orygen, both current and future, in a global context.
  • Excellent communication skills including demonstrated grant, tender, proposal and report writing skills.
