About your new team
Orygen Specialist Program (OSP) provides specialist mental health services, focusing on early intervention, for young people aged 15 to 25 with severe and complex mental illness.
Our Inpatient Unit (IPU) is located in Footscray on the Western Hospital site. The IPU includes a 16-bed low dependency area and a further three beds (ICA-EAST) for targeted specialised service delivery for youth with complex mental health and psychosocial needs.
Your new role
- Provide high quality leadership and oversight of all operational processes at the IPU including, recruitment, reporting, budget management and incident review
- Manage and lead the IPU to ensure the delivery of high quality care, with a focus on clinical nursing standards and efficient use of resources
- Manage workforce planning, performance reviews, and promote and support professional development of the IPU team
- Manage service review and evaluation, planning, development, and monitoring activities (including contributing to state-wide trends and initiating and implementing clinical audits) in collaboration with Orygen’s senior leadership team
About you
- Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
- Demonstrated experience in as a NUM or Team Leader, including leadership and operational management of a mental health unit/clinical team, risk management, budgets, infrastructure, human resource management and workforce planning
- Experience or ability to think strategically, and collect synthesise and evaluate data
- Comprehensive clinical expertise to initiate and lead evidence-based nursing practice in the care delivery to consumers with complex mental health needs
- Demonstrated commitment to the recovery approach in mental health treatment and support, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching consumers personal recovery goals
