About the job

The Youth Wellbeing Team Leader will provide leadership and management for the Youth Wellbeing Worker (YWW) and Peer (lived experience) workforce within the Orygen Recovery, Youth Prevention & Recovery Care (YPARC) system and support a high level of psychosocial recovery-oriented practices.

Reporting to the Coordinator, Orygen Recovery you will:

  • Lead and manage the youth wellbeing and peer workforce, including recruitment, rosters, performance, and staff development.
  • Oversee service delivery to young people, families, and carers, ensuring high standards of recovery-oriented practice and tailored support.
  • Foster a positive team culture by mentoring staff, promoting evidence-informed practices, and driving service improvements.
  • Collaborate with clinical and lived experience teams to manage risks, enhance service delivery, and build community connections.
  • Support daily operations and program management, including budgets, compliance, administration, and on-call responsibilities.

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Tertiary qualification in mental health, AOD, social science or related discipline or working towards or equivalent experience in a similar position.
  • Extensive experience in mental health, community or AOD setting, desirable in Youth Mental Health.
  • Previous experience in leading teams and managing programs.
  • Experiencing working in acute or sub-acute (PARC or Step Up/Step Down) or residential services and a working knowledge of recovery-oriented practice.
  • Highly developed organisational, administrative and time management skills.
