Outer Urban Projects (OUP), founded in 2012, is a vital player in the Australian arts landscape. We have forged a dynamic intergenerational performing arts company that collaborates with Emerging Artists and their communities in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. The role of a Board Director

The OUP Board are responsible for making strategic decisions and ensuring good governance of the company. This includes setting strategic direction, overseeing financial and staffing decisions and ensuring that the board and the company are complying with all their legal duties.

Qualities we are seeking in a Board Director

We are seeking a Board Director from within OUP’s community of interest; emerging artists and their communities living in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. We encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented communities and those with lived experience of systemic injustice, including migrant and refugee communities, people of colour, First Nations people, LGBTIQ+ communities, people with a disability and young people.No formal qualifications or experience is required. Board and governance training can be made available where required.

The role will require attendance at five Board meetings annually, relevant subcommittee meetings, an annual strategic planning day, as well as other ad hoc training and a commitment to using your skills to support the organisation to flourish. Meetings are held at OUP’s headquarters in Coburg and online. The role is unpaid, however case-by-case support to participate fully may be available to some Board members depending on individual circumstances.

Board terms are for 2 x three-year terms with the option of a third term.
