OzFish Unlimited is an exciting NGO dedicated to helping the millions of Aussie recreational fishers take action for the health of their waterways and shore up the future of the sport they love. OzFish Unlimited partners with fishers and the broader community to invest time and resources into the restoration of our waterways and fish habitats, counteracting decades of degradation.

OzFish is seeking an energetic Events Coordinator for our national operations team, based in NSW. Working with the OzFish HQ team and our regional NSW team and Chapters.

The Event Coordinator you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing OzFish’s major fishing and ‘fish talks’ events in NSW, assist with minor event support for Chapters and fishing clubs. The Event Coordinator will oversee all aspects of event management, including logistics, marketing, participant engagement, and stakeholder coordination. Expect frequent travel across NSW (1-2 trips per month).

Key deliverables will include:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing three large sustainable fishing competitions in inland NSW annually, including comprehensive event plans, timelines, and budgets for each competition, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives
  • Development of guidelines for sustainable fishing competition best practices
  • Support OzFish groups and other fishing clubs in developing and delivering best practice to their local fishing competitions
  • Engage recreational fishers in the design, delivery and participation in sustainable fishing comps and practices, including working directly with OzFish volunteer chapters, demonstration of best practices and promotion of events
  • Work with our major partners as key stakeholders to ensure OzFish events meet their expectations

We are looking for someone enthusiastic about fish and fishing who wants to make a difference in sustainable fishing.

Key skills

  • Qualifications in a suitable field, may include marketing and communication, event management or similar
  • Strong delivery experience for multiple large and small scale events
  • Knowledge of sustainable practices and environmental conservation principles, particularly in the context of fishing and aquatic habitats
  • Experience in designing events with specific stakeholder partners in mind
  • Experience in engaging the community and managing volunteers
  • Willingness to travel and flexibility to work weekends as needed, current drivers licence and suitable vehicle for local travel.

It would be a bonus if you had:

  • Experience in communication and promotion through social media
  • Strong connections to the fishing community
