About Us 

The Perth African Nations Sports Association (PANSA) is a community not-for-profit organisation with charity status which is directed, driven and informed by the culturally diverse community in Western Australia. We are dedicated to breaking down barriers and providing life opportunities to African–Australians through the medium of sport. For over a decade, PANSA – and its predecessor, the Perth African Nations Football Council – has worked to ease the transition of new arrivals from African nations into their new home in Western Australia.  

Our team has a privileged and crucial role in providing culturally appropriate, safe and respectable sport and community development programs to the community. 

 About the role  

We are highly active with sport-focused community development programs, requiring an excellent public interface reporting to the public and stakeholders with a focus on amplifying our message and vision. The successful candidate will deliver this interface, applying the right style, approach and skill.

Our team has highly flexible work conditions, providing you have the right space and equipment to safely work remotely.

With multiple programs across:

  • Breaking down barriers to sport participation for multicultural females
  • Developing the future sport and recreation industry leaders from the WA African community
  • Assisting mainstream sport clubs successfully reach multicultural communities
  • Working with informal sport groups from recently arrived backgrounds to support their volunteer resources and journey
  • Delivering community building support to improve lives around gambling awareness and decision-making, mental health support and sport program quality enhancement
  • Mass participation delivered by excellent multicultural role models
  • WA’s largest multicultural event delivered annually

This will be an enjoyable and challenging journey and life experience for the right candidate.

In this role, classified as Marketing Officer under Social and Community Services Award, you will report to the General Manager and work with a dynamic, youthful, and multicultural team to: 

  • Promote programs and supporters
  • Identify key markets and methods to reach them
  • Identify stories in PANSA’s work and harness them to expose what and why we do
  • Report to stakeholders the excellent pathways, work and outcomes

This is a casual position with mostly seasonal and funding-based project work, between 2 and 10 hours per week on average, with flexible timing to fit the right candidate, who can work independently in own space and place.

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • A qualification in media or marketing
  • Experience of success working with a team to support the communication needs of an organisation to external stakeholders and the public

Ideally you will have lived experience or personal experience in working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious backgrounds.

Essential Competencies, Qualifications and Experience Skills & Knowledge 

  • High quality media and promotional material production competence
  • Administration, reporting, computer applications, MS Office Suite Experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication, able to build rapport and sustain working relationships. 
  • Networking and stakeholder engagement 
  • Time management, able to multitask and meet strict deadlines 
  • Sound judgement, problem solving & logical thinking 
  • Ability to collaborate with others; understands the behaviour, needs and concerns of others and uses this to work effectively with people across boundaries.
