Providing essential services such as counselling, support groups, InfoLine, Neurological Nurses and education while raising awareness and funds for research to improve the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Parkinson’s NSW recognises the challenges to patients, their carers and their families upon diagnosis and throughout their time with Parkinsons. It is our goal into improve the connection between people with Parkinson’s and the services that exist to support them as well as improving knowledge of Parkinsons within the community

This role will work within the Fundraising team and closely with the Marketing and Communications team to engage, retain and develop individual givers across a range of segments, platforms, products, campaigns and channels.

POSITION PURPOSE

To oversee and produce initiatives that inspire support and engagement with the work of Parkinson’s NSW. The Direct Marketing Officer is a key role within the Fundraising and the Marketing and Communications teams to bring passion and urgency to our fundraising and engagement activities.

The role will have the goal to ensure direct marketing activities achieve the right balance in driving annual net revenue, supporter loyalty, and appropriate overarching levels of ROI, shared with the broader marketing and fundraising teams.

The position also works cross-functionally to ensure that fundraising campaigns are aligned to, and leverage other activities within the Marketing and Communications strategy.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The day-to-day coordination of direct marketing campaigns by working with consultants to deliver campaigns via mail, telemarketing and digital channels
  • Developing timelines and ensuring campaigns are delivered to timeline
  • Briefing copywriters and designers and providing feedback on creative as well as securing internal stakeholder feedback and approvals
  • Coordinating data through briefing the Marketing Analytics & Reporting team
  • Briefing mail houses, proofreading and quality checking appeals prior to final sign off
  • Tracking all costs for each campaign and adhering to the allocated budget
  • Co-ordinating appeal activity with the Marketing and Communications team to maximise content value a fully utilise digital and other marketing channels.
  • Providing support to the broader team for adhoc communications and processing.
  • Contributing to the overall individuals revenue and retention targets
  • Actively refine database segmentation to maximise results
  • Grow and develop the Regular Giving program.
  • Monitor performance of all activity.
  • Develop welcome and renewal strategies for newly acquired donors.
  • Oversee management of activities to upgrade donations and encourage committed giving leading to bequests.

  • An in-depth understanding of the role, vision, purpose and values of Parkinson’s NSW; its strategic direction; and taking accountability for your role in delivering the strategic direction.

ABOUT YOU

Essential:

  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate with ­­­the public and team members.
  • Two or more years’ experience in a marketing, advertising or communications role
  • Strong project management, time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, multitask, work under pressure and deliver to timelines
  • Understanding of customer retention with an interest to learn about strategies to increase lifetime value
  • Experience in data/mail house/agency management
  • Sound problem solving, organisational and negotiating skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and planning skills
  • Computer literacy within Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with volunteers in a not-for-profit organisation
  • Experience working as a support to team managers
