Background
Solomon Islands participation in the Australian Labor Mobility Schemes has been low to date as a result DFAT are looking to increase participation through a specific program aimed at improving supply of and demand for workers.
Position objectives
The key objective of this position is to:
- Responsible for the design and delivery of the Provision of support to Solomon Islands in the Seasonal Workers Program
- Support PLF’s Labour Mobility Work in the Solomon Islands
Duties & Responsibilities
The SWP Support Manager will perform the following services:
- Responsible for the design and delivery of the Provision of support to Solomon Islands in the Seasonal Workers Program and the Pacific Labour Scheme
- Work closely with LMU to refine policies, procedures and data management and assist implementation.
- Manage communications, reporting and monitoring of the program
- Manage the program team
- Consult effectively with Stakeholders - community, government, business and Approved Employers
- Support and Work in close collaboration with the Solomon Islands PLF Engagement Manager
Selection Criteria
Qualifications
- Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Project Management or other discipline or equivalent experience
Skills and Experience
- Experience managing international development projects including reporting, monitoring, evaluation and financial management
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strategic networks and develop partnerships in complex stakeholder environments
- Knowledge and Understanding of the Australian Labour Mobility Schemes and circular labour mobility in the region
- Knowledge and understanding of the Solomon Islands labour market and context
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team to achieve organisational priorities and build institutional and individual capacity (particularly in a cross-cultural setting)
- Understanding of cross cutting themes of disability and gender equality
- Fluent in English essential and Pijin desirable
- Previous experience living and working in the Pacific is desirable but not essential
