Support Coordinator

MiLife-Victoria

About us

We are an organisation in large-scale transformation.

We have big dreams and aspirations and we need help to get there.

We’re at the start of our journey, which means that we’re looking for people to help us build the organisation and culture that we want and need to see people with disability live meaningful lives.

As a result, this isn’t the sort of job where everything is already in place. It’s the sort of job where you get to shape your own journey.

About Support Coordination

Support Coordinators perform a pivotal role in supporting people on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to navigate the scheme and build their own capacity and capability to get the supports they need. While this function may ultimately become part of a Navigator role as the NDIS Review recommendations are implemented, the function remains imperative for the people that MiLife-Victoria Inc (MLV) supports, and we remain committed to helping them successfully transition and adapt to any market changes.

MLV continues to have significant demand for Support Coordination services but the organisation also sees an opportunity for Support Coordinators to expand their reach and impact and branch into innovative new areas of disability support to help people with disability live a meaningful life.

In practice, this looks like building capacity and capability among young people and their families to set themselves up for success before they leave school. Many of those in the education system have had limited exposure to the NDIS and without help, may not establish the resources they need to make the transition from school to adulthood a successful one.

In addition, MLV is committed to completing comprehensive skills and needs assessments to fully understand a person’s wants and needs. This involves outreaching to a person’s home and community to understand at a deep level what’s important to them so that they can get the supports they need to live a meaningful life.

MLV sees this as a unique opportunity for Support Coordinators to take a leadership role on this front. By broadening their own skill base, Support Coordinators will have an opportunity to transition into the organisation’s Meaningful Lives service arms if they choose, meaning that if and when Support Coordination becomes a core part of the Navigator function, incumbents will have multiple career pathways available to them.

Who we’re looking for

This is an exciting opportunity for a go-getter who is keen to roll up their sleeves and help create something amazing with a group of passionate and dedicated professionals who are committed to change for the better.

We’re particularly keen to hear from you if you’re a current Support Coordinator uncertain about the future and are looking for opportunities to continue to use your Support Coordination skills and knowledge but along with seeking job security, are keen to grow and stretch into new areas.
