About the organisation

Yugunga-Nya Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (YN PBC) is a member-based company representing the interests and managing the day-to-day business of the Yugunga-Nya native title holders. It is envisaged that the company will engage in diverse projects to help provide social, cultural, environmental and financial sustainability for the future of Yugunga-Nya people.

About the opportunity

YN PBC has an exciting leadership opportunity for an inaugural full-time CEO based in Perth. 

Working closely with the Board, this role will see you responsible for providing strong leadership, enabling YN PBC to achieve its strategic and operational goals. You will also be responsible for developing the company’s operations and actively engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating the organisation’s vision and strategies. 

Core duties

  • in collaboration with the YN PBC Board and staff, lead YN PBC in a way that balances Yugunga-Nya values whilst generating income through commercial opportunities and social enterprise, to achieve the Yugunga-Nya vision and objectives
  • be an effective, public representative of the YN PBC in public and private functions, forums and the media, to attract and secure revenue and achieve commercial imperatives
  • embody the principles of cultural competency and community healing and ensure they are incorporated into all activities of the YN PBC
  • drive and achieve agreed YN PBC’s social and commercial objectives
  • build and maintain a high-performing team with constructive relationships within YN PBC, with clear accountability and commitment to delivery of results
  • manage key strategic relationships to facilitate the achievement of the goals of YN PBC, and
  • provide advice to the YN PBC Board and ensure the compilation and quality assurance of suitable and regular reports to the Board, covering all aspects of strategy, policy and risk management.

About you

YN PBC is seeking a driven and accomplished executive leader with a performance history of delivering results. 

Strong conceptual and analytical skills and ability to apply these in strategic planning, business development and advocacy, along with experience in financial management, will be critical to your success in the role. Pivotal, too, will be your commitment to creative thinking and ability to drive positive and sustainable change. 

Due to the nature of the role, you must be prepared to learn and understand Yugunga-Nya history, culture and aspirations, along with your knowledge of native title organisations and how they operate. You must be able to work collaboratively with people from a range of cultural and social backgrounds. A background in advocacy and/or any network relationships within WA will be highly regarded.

As you will be building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, it is essential you possess superior relationship management, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Importantly, YN PBC is also looking for someone who will build a culture of innovation, creativity, and ongoing development and improvement.

  • Current ‘C” Class driver’s licence
  • Financial and business interests background check
  • WA Government’s Covid-19 mandatory vaccination

You will receive a competitive remuneration circa $175,000 - $185,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications plus super, phone, laptop and a range of benefits including:
