Are you passionate about creating meaningful volunteer experiences that make a difference in the community? PCYC NSW is looking for an inspiring Volunteer Manager to develop and oversee our volunteer programs across NSW. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in fostering community engagement, expanding corporate volunteering opportunities, and supporting our mission to empower young people across NSW and prevent youth crime.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager, People and Culture, the Volunteer Manager will lead the implementation of PCYC NSW’s volunteer strategy, focusing on recruitment, engagement, and retention. You’ll design and manage innovative programs that connect volunteers to PCYC’s mission and enhance community engagement, including corporate volunteer programs.

Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders, you’ll ensure a consistent, compliant, and inspiring volunteer experience. From strategy development to operational management, you’ll shape the future of volunteering at PCYC NSW while supporting our mission to empower youth and prevent youth crime.

You will:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, organisation-wide volunteer strategy.
  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training processes to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for volunteers.
  • Design and implement programs that enhance community engagement and support corporate volunteering initiatives.
  • Establish partnerships with external organisations, including businesses and schools, to grow volunteer participation.
  • Manage the volunteer database, including tracking volunteer hours, compiling statistics, and generating reports.
  • Monitor compliance with child protection, safety, and organisational policies to ensure a safe and supportive environment for volunteers.
  • Work with club managers and operational leaders to standardise volunteer engagement and management practices across all locations.
  • Address escalated concerns and provide support to ensure volunteer satisfaction and wellbeing.
  • Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of volunteer programs, making recommendations for enhancements.
  • Develop policies and procedures related to volunteer management and ensure their consistent application.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to deliver and expand corporate volunteering initiatives.
  • Provide advice and guidance on best practices in volunteer management to staff across PCYC’s network.

ABOUT US

Established in 1937, PCYC NSW is a life changing charity collaborating in partnership with communities and NSW Police to empower youth, get kids active in life and reduce and prevent youth crime. We have sixty-six clubs and eighteen OOSH services across NSW, with a vision for significant growth.

Our aim is to engage with and positively influence over 70,000 youth members through mainstream sport, recreation, education, leadership, and cultural programs. We also work with at-risk youth to break the cycle of disadvantage through crime prevention, vocational education, youth capacity building and social responsibility programs to enhance the life direction and outcomes of over 7,500 youth per year.

ABOUT YOU

You are a passionate and experienced leader with a proven track record in volunteer management and community engagement. You excel at building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, developing strategic programs, and managing all aspects of volunteer operations. Your ability to motivate and inspire others, combined with your strong organisational and communication skills, makes you the perfect fit for this role.

YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A strong alignment to the PCYC NSW behaviours and values – Resilience, Respect, Integrity, Commitment, Citizenship.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Community Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in volunteer management, including recruitment, training, and engagement.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in community engagement and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and data analysis.
  • Project management experience, with a track record of successful program implementation.
