About the Organisation
The Physical Disability Council of NSW (PDCN) is the peak advocacy body for people living with physical disability in New South Wales. PDCN's purpose is to promote and protect the rights and interests of people with physical disability across the state. PDCN is committed to providing accessible and inclusive education and capacity building opportunities that empower individuals with disability and advance their participation in society.
The objectives of the Physical Disability Council of NSW (PDCN) are:
- To educate, inform and assist people with physical disabilities in NSW about the range of services, structures and programs available that enable their full participation, equality of opportunity and equality of citizenship.
- To develop the capacity of people with physical disability in NSW to identify their own goals, and the confidence to develop a pathway to achieving their goals (i.e. self-advocate).
- To educate and inform stakeholders (i.e. about the needs of people with a physical disability) so they are able to achieve and maintain full participation, equality of opportunity and of citizenship.
Role Summary
We are looking for a motivated, experienced Finance Manager to join our growing team in a part-time capacity. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and working in conjunction with the PDCN Treasurer and team, the Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the preparation and monitoring of the budget, processing payroll, remitting payroll taxes, government reporting as well as preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll statements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for Month-End procedures alongside the CEO and Managers of payroll and grant budgeting for the organisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer day-to-day accounting requirements for PDCN using MYOB
- Prepare fortnightly payroll and supplier payments
- Generate and pay invoices
- Process leave and expense forms in MYOB
- Manage quarterly BAS/Super payments
- Provide end of month financial reports for PDCN CEO and Board
- Undertake monthly bank and job reconciliations
- Prepare end of financial year information for audit
- Prepare financial information required for grant proposal budgets and reporting
- Preparation of payroll budget and forecasting
- Manage fee-for-service eLearning payments
- Reviewing financial position against the budget to inform purchases
- Report as required to PDCN CEO and other employees
- Answer financial-related staff, phone and email enquiries
Key Selection Criteria
- Current Bookkeeping, Accounting or other relevant qualification
- Member of CPA
- At least 3 years’ experience in finance, accounting or comparable and transferable skills acquired in a professional setting, with a track record of success
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with MYOB, Microsoft Office, and Point of Sales software
- Strong organisational skills, ability to follow processes and attention to detail
- Self-directed, highly motivated, and reliable
- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- Strong computer and Internet proficiency, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google G-Suite
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
- Commitment to the mission, aims and values of PDCN
Desirable CRITERIA
- Lived experience of physical disability is highly considered for this role
- Experience in financial management or accounting in the not-for-profit sector
- Experience in Salesforce and XERO Accounting Software
- Cultural and social awareness, and commitment to social justice
- Good level of knowledge of or engagement with the disability community

- NSW Police Check, Working with Children Check, COVID 19 Vaccination Certificate
Benefits
Dependent on skill level and experience, this position will be paid under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 6-7, pro-rata salary range $87k - $95k, (plus Government guaranteed superannuation and leave loading)
