  • Empower volunteers and build lasting community partnerships
  • Drive positive impact in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment

About the organisation

For over 100 years, Scouting has empowered young people through outdoor adventures, building resilience, confidence, and leadership. Scouts NSW shapes the future by providing opportunities and support for youth to thrive and be heard. The State Service Centre (SSC) at Sydney Olympic Park supports dedicated volunteers in managing safety, assets, technology, member experience, training, and more, all with the goal of growing participation in impactful Scouting programs.

About the role

The Regional Operations Manager will play a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimising operations, growth, and commercial activities across multiple regions in NSW. You’ll be driving membership growth, retention, and community engagement, while ensuring efficient and sustainable operations. A vital aspect of this role is to support and empower volunteers, ensuring that Scouts NSW continues to deliver high-quality programs.

Key priorities include:

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and hands-on support to drive region goals, ensuring operations are safe, profitable and customer-focused, while effectively managing risks.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business improvement and growth, working collaboratively with both volunteers and Scouts NSW Service Centre to advance key initiatives and drive success.
  • Source and build meaningful relationships with community groups and key decision-makers to develop new services, solutions, or customer bases.
  • Willingness to travel across parts of NSW to support volunteers and assist with community activation and outreach efforts.
  • Help drive membership growth and retention opportunities in consultation and collaboration with volunteers from across the regions.
  • Oversee financial performance by monitoring metrics, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with auditing standards, while collaborating with regional teams to drive effective service delivery.
  • Ensure effective management practices are implemented to mitigate risk and ensure the health and wellbeing of workers, clients, and visitors.

About you

A collaborative and inclusive leader, your ability to build strong, meaningful relationships will be key to your success. An attentive listener, you are genuinely interested in other people’s perspectives and will respect the rich legacy of Scouts while focusing on the future. You know how to inspire and bring people along on a journey of positive, sustainable change. With an intrinsic desire to give back to the community, you'll thrive in a purpose-driven role that truly makes an impact.

Key experience and skills we are seeking:

  • 5 + years in a similar operational leadership role, with proven success in managing multisite operations, ideally in a not-for-profit or purpose driven environment.
  • Experience in a member-based organisation will be highly valued, particularly if you can demonstrate success in increasing and retaining membership through effective and innovative strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders, including local and state government.
  • Strong financial management skills, with experience in budgeting and performance monitoring.
  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Facility Management, Community Services, or a related field is desirable.

Essential Requirements:

  • Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • A valid driver’s license with the ability to travel across NSW.
