The Public Interest Advocacy Centre is a leading social justice law and policy centre. We build a fairer, stronger society by helping to change laws, policies and practices that cause injustice and inequality.
Towards Truth is a collaborative partnership of the Indigenous Law Centre UNSW and PIAC, providing practical support for the truth-telling process called for in the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
Reporting to the Project Director, Towards Truth Project, you will support the day-to-day implementation of the project, researching, documenting, and recording laws and policies that have had an impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Additionally, you will develop:
You have a proven understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander history, culture and society with solid research and analytical skills and the capacity to develop relationships, particularly with First Nations communities. A degree in law, history or social sciences is desirable.
This position is intended as a special measure for the purposes of s 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and the subject of an exemption granted under s 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
