Project Coordinator

Pingala Assocation

Pingala is a community of energy citizens taking control of our energy supply and making it clean, green and accessible. We believe that we should have a say in where our electricity comes from, and that it should bring income back into the community.

We’re really proud to be one of the first Community Energy groups in Sydney, and have some ambitious goals over the next five years.

It is our mission to increase the deployment of community owned and run renewable energy: we spread the word about clean and fair energy; we support businesses and communities to connect with solar; and build on models to make solar accessible to everyone.

We believe that solar and other renewable technologies are crucial to securing a safe, healthy, cohesive future for ourselves, our kids and our nation.

We are seeking a Project Coordinator to identify potential sites; develop a relationship with clients; scope their energy needs and fit with Pingala; and, for those projects the Co-operative agrees to fund, obtain quotes and manage the installation through to handover.

Tasks include:

  • Reporting regularly to the Association Committee and Co-operative Board
  • Following and managing policies and procedures set-out by the committee
  • Managing and coordinating community energy projects, including solar for social housing, from identification through to commissioning:
    • Main contact for onsite stakeholders and installers/contractors
    • Manage community fundraising
    • Develop budgets and provide monthly reports
    • Assist in developing communications material for social media and website
    • Maintain records
  • Assessing new project sites against Pingala Ethics & Feasibility criteria and other criteria set by the Association and Co-operative
  • Progressing engagement with approved project sites.

Essential skills / qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills - especially in stakeholder engagement
  • Good time management and computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • A team player and collaborative worker
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Actively seeks advice, input and feedback from others
  • A critical eye for detail
  • A passion for clean green energy generation and community empowerment

Desirable:

  • Completed or in progress studies in business, marketing, community engagement, or community organising
  • Basic understanding of rooftop solar (no modelling will be required, but must be able to explain it to lay-people and talk to contractors)
  • Have worked in similar startups or small organisation where one person may have to cover multiple capacities.

Reports to: Pingala Association Committee and Cooperative Board

Hours/week: 1.5 - 2 days a week based on your availability and capacity. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Location: Work from home, but must be able to regularly travel within the Greater Sydney region for stakeholder meetings and site inspections. Travel elsewhere in NSW may be required for specific projects.

Term: this is a temporary position - September 2024-end January 2025

Remuneration: $85,000 - $96,000 pro rata wage package (plus statutory superannuation)

Pingala is a diverse, inclusive and non-hierarchical group of people who are highly motivated and inspired to make projects happen. If you think this role is for you, and you wish to improve your skills, deepen your understanding of the not for profit sector and develop professionally, then consider this opportunity.
