About the Organisation

Ninti One (Ninti) is an Indigenous, Supply Nation registered not-for-profit organisation. We have offices in Alice Springs and Adelaide, with staff and associates based in other States and Territories. We work collaboratively with communities and relevant agencies to achieve social and economic development outcomes. Since our establishment in 2003, Ninti has been building opportunities for communities through research, innovation and engagement in Australia – and more recently, in a range of sectors across the Pacific and Asia. We have had a stable Board over the last decade, Chaired by Prof Tom Calma AO.

Ninti works with partners to influence systems to deliver better outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, by learning about what works in communities, helping organisations be more effective, sharing our perspectives and advocating for change. Our solutions are tailored to the context and needs of our clients, which include service delivery organisations, government agencies, philanthropic organisations and corporates with a demonstrated commitment to social impact. We work in a broad range of areas including Aged Care, Children and Families, Disability, Education, Employment, Health and International and Regional Development. About the role

The Evaluation and Impact Adviser will be Ninti’s focal point for evaluation work that Ninti undertakes on behalf of funding bodies (mainly government clients), including:

  • Enhancing and quality-assuring design and delivery of the evaluation work that Ninti undertakes.
  • Understanding the needs of funding bodies when Ninti tenders for evaluation work; and, working with the BD team to prepare responses to RFQs and tenders – to attract more funding. An important part of this element is to attract partnerships (organisational and consultant personnel) that Ninti may need, to deliver high quality evaluations, reviews and co-designs.
  • Taking on strategic oversight roles on Ninti’s work in areas of evaluations, reviews and co-designs – to ensure that our work aligns with the Productivity Commission’s 2020 Indigenous Evaluation Strategy, the NIAA Indigenous Advancement Strategy Evaluation Framework, and the National Agreement on Closing the Gap targets.
  • Building the evaluation capacity within Ninti, and for the Indigenous evaluation sector more generally.

About you

We are seeking an analytical and highly motivated individual who has experience managing stakeholder relationships with funding bodies. You will have strong organisational, communication (both verbal and written), and research skills. Training and/or qualifications in evaluation would be highly regarded, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is preferable (but not essential).

Key Selection Criteria

  • Ability to provide proof of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders descent; identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; and are accepted by your community as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to apply the principles of the Productivity Commission’s 2020 Indigenous Evaluation Strategy, the NIAA Indigenous Advancement Strategy Evaluation Framework, and the National Agreement on Closing the Gap targets.
  • Evaluation: Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative evaluations and familiarity with a range of evaluation methods, in the areas of Aged Care, Children and Families, Disability, Education, Employment, Health and International and Regional Development.
  • Partnering and Stakeholder Management: A strong demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, as well as the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, by showing empathy and respect when engaging with partners (including funding bodies) in challenging situations and when discussing sensitive matters.
  • Capacity Building: Assist in creating a learning environment at Ninti and in partner organisations, that encourages knowledge sharing that is strengths-focused, promotes cultural safety, and acknowledges local expertise and diversity across communities and/or participants and stakeholders.
  • Communication: Demonstrated experience in drafting high-quality documents, reports and recommendations and a strong ability to verbally communicate and influence.
