The salary range (excluding superannuation) is $117,265 to $139,259, depending on skills and experience.

The Manager, Digital Systems will support PHA and its digital systems team in the following ways:

  • Day-to-day leadership and management of a small team of Project Officers
  • Manage the operational use of the Australian Plant Pest Database (APPD) and the Pest and Disease Image Library (PaDIL)
  • Assist in the development of training and resources for the relevant digital systems
  • Oversee extension/expansion of the APPD and PaDIL and assist stakeholder groups
  • Develop new program/project areas including response to tenders
  • Initiate, develop, update and finalise support material such as guides, training presentations or fact sheets
  • Assist with the development of progress updates and reports on the delivery of the relevant digital systems
  • Manage program schedules and provide reports and milestones as specified in activity plans and contracts

To be successful as the Manager, Digital Systems you will have:

  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
  • Demonstrated high-level project management and contract management skills
  • Competency in Microsoft products (e.g. Microsoft Azure) and IT data management systems, or the ability to quickly learn these products and systems
  • Previous exposure to the Biosecurity industry, or other transferable experience like data science or entomology (desirable)
  • A keen interest in playing a part in Australia’s biosecurity efforts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as experience with presenting technical information to a range of audiences
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, biology, science or similar)

The positions will ideally be performed in the PHA Office in Canberra (although we are open to discussing remote opportunities with the right candidate and flexible working arrangements). The role is available on a full-time or part-time basis for an initial 24-month period.
