Humanists Victoria is part of an international network of Humanist organisations working since the 1950s towards building a society where everyone can lead an ethical, safe and fulfilling life. We advocate for a more compassionate, ethical and just world, guided by science and reason.
We do this through a range of campaigns and initiatives focusing on critical issues including human rights, indigenous self-determination, climate change and wealth inequality. We also build partnerships and actively support community organisations pursuing our shared values.
The present voluntary Secretary position becomes vacant in late November 2024 and recruitment of a new Secretary has commenced in order to achieve a smooth transition. The Chairperson and retiring Secretary will provide guidance and support over a transition period.
Humanists Victoria is governed by a Committee of seven voluntary members and currently meets bimonthly on Tuesday mornings at Balwyn library. Much of the secretarial task can be performed from home.
The Committee oversees development of strategies and projects, governance of the organisation, administration of finances and compliance with relevant statutory laws and regulations.
The secretary works closely with the Treasurer and President ensuring effective governance of the organisation.
