About the opportunity

Primary Health Tasmania has a unique opportunity for an experienced procurement specialist to join our small but high performing team as a Procurement and Contract Specialist (Lead – Procurement and Contracts). As part of the Business and Finance unit, you will support both corporate and program delivery teams in meeting their procurement requirements.

Our work is impactful and varied as we commission (strategically procure) services in primary health care, health system changes and improvements, we also manage small grants programs, and more. We also work with different systems such as DocuSign, TenderLink, Open Windows and our Business Management Centre to streamline processes and achieve excellent outcomes. Our Business Management Centre is transforming our procurement and contracting business processes by automating workflows, making this an exciting time to join a team committed to continuous improvement and system solutions.

What you would be doing

  • Lead tendering processes, with a focus on consultant engagements and small grant programs.
  • Draft service contracts ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Provide tender support for commissioning processes.
  • Offer expert procurement and contracting advice.
  • Identify and assist to implement system and business process improvements.

Here's what you’ll look like

  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferably in business or finance and/or demonstrated experience in a role with procurement and/or contracting responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal skills and are confident to produce high quality documentation relating to procurement and contracting activities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, assess risk, use discretion and judgement.
  • You are agile, solutions focused, have strong commercial skills, have an understanding of good business process and systems and be able to think creatively with experience managing change.
  • Able to work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a team, including the ability to coordinate activities and collaborate with peers and contribute to the high-performance of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to work with limited supervision and to meet deadlines, including the capacity to work with competing priorities.
  • Able to use your initiative to identify, contribute to and apply continuous improvements within procurement and contracting functions.
