SCALES Community Legal Centre is looking for a Senior Solicitor with a passion for advocacy, social justice and human rights.

About you

You will have 5 years PAE in family law and family violence and will work with people from all walks of life, supervising students in the Murdoch University Student Law Clinic in Rockingham.

About the role

You will lead a small team of like-minded individuals providing legal advice, advocacy, and representation. You will also have the opportunity to get out into the community to raise awareness of common legal issues and the barriers our clients face every day. There will also be opportunities to influence law and policy through your work.

About us

SCALES Community Legal Centre is a not for profit incorporated association based in Rockingham providing a range of free legal services for over 27 years to the south coastal metropolitan region of Kwinana and Rockingham.

SCALES partners with the Murdoch University School of Law and Criminology to provide placements in clinical legal education units at SCALES. Law students work under the close supervision of the solicitors in the provision of legal services in the areas of criminal, family and civil law.

Supervision training for the successful candidate will be provided in Semester 2 2024.

In order to fit the bill, you must understand and be committed to the principles of holistic, trauma informed and culturally safe legal practice; have strong emotional resilience and excellent interpersonal skills.
