Remote / Work from Home
Location: SW Sydney is ideal for keeping connected to school and community however, we are also considering candidates from the Greater Sydney Basin and other areas/regions.
Organisation: Professional Individualised Care (PIC) - pic.care.
The PIC model promotes relational care in the home of a Professional Therapeutic Carer (PTC). Our PTC’s have industry-recognised qualifications and extensive professional work experience, plus a desire to work in a home-based environment that provides a ‘whole of life' response to the complex needs and care of a young person.
PTC’s are employed and paid a full-time salary plus a carers allowance. Each carer is supported by a Case Coordinator, an internal Therapeutic Specialist and a Respite & Recreation Specialist. By creating a highly supportive environment for both the carer and the young person, we enable real relationships and best practice therapeutic work to take place.
As a Professional Therapeutic Carer at PIC your role will be to establish and maintain a close supportive relationship with siblings, Dylan* (7) and Ally* (5). The PIC model matches the carer with the child/ren. This matching is based on the children’s needs and past experiences and the PTC’s professional skills and background. This role involves intensive support to meet Dylan and Ally's complex needs, ensuring their well-being, promoting their development, and maintaining and sustaining their cultural connections.
The children will live together with the PTC, but unlike traditional foster care the PTC has the professional skill set to respond to high needs behaviour and to meet the needs of young people with a trauma background. The mix of professionally informed support and a home-based setting, provides the young person with a genuine opportunity to develop real relationships and attachments, that is key to the success of the PIC model.
Dylan*:
Dylan is a spirited and resilient 7 year-old boy who brings joy and inspiration to everyone he meets. Despite the challenges of cerebral palsy and autism, Dylan’s determination, and positive attitude shine through in his everyday activities. He has made remarkable progress in speaking, reading, communicating and loves engaging in music and sensory play. Dylan’s infectious laughter and enthusiasm for learning make him a delight to be around. He enjoys playing with his monster trucks, watching footy, and spending time in the bath, or any other water showcasing his adventurous spirit and zest for life. Dylan’s ability to connect with others and his sheer joy in exploring the world around him make him a truly special child who brings warmth and happiness to any environment.
Ally*:
Ally is a bright and bubbly 5 year-old girl who radiates joy and curiosity. Her love for arts and crafts, coupled with her eagerness to learn and play, makes her a delightful presence in any setting. Ally enjoys preschool, where she engages enthusiastically with her friends and teachers. Her imagination and creativity come alive in her play, and she has a special talent for making those around her smile. Ally’s warm-hearted nature and her ability to form strong, loving connections make her a delight to care for. Her excitement for life and her kind, affectionate personality make every day with her an absolute joy.
