Queensland Lived Experience Workforce Network (QLEWN) is a state-wide peak body established by, with, and for the Lived Experience workforce within the mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and suicide prevention sectors. It was created with a clear vision of providing systems advocacy and sector leadership, as well as opportunities for ongoing professional development of the Lived Experience workforce in Queensland. QLEWN recognises that Lived Experience includes direct (consumer) and/or family/kinship (carer) experiences.

About the Role

This newly established Program Manager position is a pivotal role for QLEWN and will work closely with the Management Committee to identify and deliver on key operational priorities with a focus on progressing the strategic objectives; organisational growth and securing recurrent operational funding. You can expect this role to be hands on operationally with broad responsibilities that encompass program management and project coordination; workforce development; systems advocacy; stakeholder engagement; and high-level administrative support.

This is a twelve-month fixed term contract, with potential for this to become an ongoing senior leadership position. Some regional travel may be required in order to engage with relevant stakeholders state-wide.

MHLEPQ will auspice this position on behalf of QLEWN until 30 June 2025, at which point the role and employee entitlements will transition to QLEWN. You will have the opportunity to work alongside the MHLEPQ team from their Spring Hill office location with hybrid work arrangements available.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the QLEWN Management Committee to deliver on key operational and strategic priorities
  • Identify recurrent funding opportunities and prepare relevant grant applications
  • Develop and implement strategies for growing the member base and greater member engagement
  • Seek to understand and advocate for key priorities of the Queensland Lived Experience workforce
  • Represent QLEWN as a key point of contact with key stakeholders at a community, state, and federal level
  • Coordinate the delivery of key organisational projects, including the Powering Up Lived Experience Workforce Summit, 2025
  • Other administratively focused duties including attending QLEWN Management Committee and various project meetings, preparing reports and providing regular updates to key stakeholders
  • Ensure all website, email, and telephone enquiries are actioned and responded to appropriately

Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience working in an identified Lived Experience role in either mental health, AODS or suicide prevention sectors
  • Demonstrated leadership experience coupled with strong capabilities in project and/or program management
  • Consultative, collaborative, and flexible approach towards working in a small team environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a demonstrated capacity to work autonomously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as this role will encompass systems advocacy, workforce development and stakeholder engagement across the sector
  • Highly developed time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to keep things on track to ensure outcomes are delivered on time
