- You must have a CPA or CA qualification and a Bachelor’s degree in finance, business management or a related field.
- You must have 1 – 3 years’ proven experience in a senior post qualification finance role.
- You must have good knowledge of finance and related legal requirements and how to apply them.
- You must have strong skills in data analysis including the use of contemporary tools, databases and accounting systems.
- You must have strong interpersonal and negotiating skills with the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a complex range of stakeholders.
- You must have the ability to interpret legislation in the development of frameworks, policies and procedures.
- You must have experience in providing concise reports to senior management.
- You must be highly-analytical with strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Lead, manage and motivate the finance team to ensure organisational financial sustainability, and support delivery of key objectives.
- Contribute to a culture of service excellence at QG state office.
- Contribute and be committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
Financial Control:
- Develop financial forecasts and budgets to support financial control and support strategic planning and management decision making.
Oversee all accounting operations, analysis of financial data and make recommendations to the State Director about improvement opportunities to financial systems, processes and controls.
- Liaise with and support Branch Treasurers to provide financial services to branch entities that are efficient and compliant with relevant legislation.
- Provide support and guidance to the Accounts officer in managing subsidiary ledgers.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for the State Director, Management Committee and State Council to facilitate business management, and provide business insights on performance issues.
- Manage internal control systems and processes to minimise financial risks, and facilitate internal and external reviews of the control environment.
- Prepare accurate and timely external financial reports for all external stakeholders including electoral and corporate regulators, and prepare compliant year end financial statements.
- Contribute to the recording and safeguarding of Queensland Greens assets and equipment.
Treasury and Cash Management:
- Manage all organisational banking arrangements and support the Accounts officer in delivery of banking services to branches.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts to record and manage liquidity over organisational and election cycles.
- Maximise returns on liquid assets through use of term deposits as guided by organisational policy.
Audit and Tax:
- Coordinate and support the year end external audit, to ensure timely delivery of service.
- Prepare financial returns for state and federal electoral bodies aligned with annual and election cycles, including necessary audit returns.
- Keep abreast of professional standards and all relevant corporate legislation to ensure Queensland Greens maintains corporate compliance.
- Undertake management review of audit recommendations and implement improvement opportunities.
- Manage tax responsibilities and ensure tax obligations and reporting are accurate and compliant.
Purchasing and Procurement:
- Support purchasing and procurement for Queensland Greens that follows prescribed policy and delivers value for money.
- Monitor and maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
- Support management and staff in the negotiation of significant contracts and leases
Payroll:
- Oversee payroll to ensure all regulatory, legislative and industrial requirements are met.
- Gain a thorough understanding of Queensland Greens industrial instruments and design payroll processes to ensure all staff are paid correctly and on time.
- Manage and monitor staff timekeeping and attendance records to support accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Undertake fortnightly payroll processing tasks in MYOB and manage related bank processing.
