  • Location: Brisbane
  • Salary: $77,162.80 - $84,117.60 FTE , and 11% superannuation in addition to salary
  • Position Type: 4 days per week. This is a fixed term contract until two weeks after the next federal election

We’re looking for a creative, progressive and politically engaged social media content creator and coordinator to join Elizabeth Watson-Brown’s team until the Federal Election.

THE POSITION

We need someone who’s interested in politics but more importantly understands online audiences and how to engage with them. Your day-to-day would involve pitching and creating social media content to advance the Greens’ message, promoting events, adapting all kinds of activities for social media content and heading along to volunteer and supporter events to capture new content.

You’ll feed into our digital strategy, evaluate what’s working and what needs to change.

This role will work closely with our communications team, Elizabeth and our broader staffing and volunteer team in Ryan.

This role will require some outside of business hours work, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, plan and execute engaging video content across Elizabeth Watson-Brown’s social media channels, with an emphasis on videos for Tiktok and Instagram.
  • Brainstorm and pitch content ideas that stay ahead of trends, cultural moments and other opportunities with the communications team, to create timely and authentic content
  • Attend volunteer and community events with Elizabeth to capture content
  • Manage online communities by engaging with our followers
  • Flag emerging risks on social media platforms
  • Report on organic content and make recommendations in response to rapidly shifting platform requirements
  • Maintain a schedule, support administrative functions such as meeting minutes and report backs and communicate proactively with the team

SELECTION CRITERIA

Required:

  • Experience in making social media videos, including coming up with a concept, shooting, editing, captioning, posting and tracking its success.
  • Some graphic design skills in either Canva or Adobe design suite.
  • Understanding of social media trends. Strong online literacy. Experience engaging with and moderating social media platforms.
  • Strong written communication skills and a collaborative, diligent and enthusiastic approach to creative work. Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Understanding of the Greens universe, including Greens policies, messaging and branding. You are familiar with the context of Federal politics and how to engage audiences in political issues. Commitment to the Australian Greens’ Principles and Charter.

Highly desirable:

  • Communications or campaigning experience in an advocacy or political context
  • Photography and videography skills
