ABOUT THE ROLE

The Field Organiser will work to organise volunteers in the Ryan electorate. This role is funded by the Queensland Greens and will report to the State Director while working closely alongside the Ryan Electorate Office and re-election campaign for the Federal MP. The position is offered under the Australian Greens Multi-Enterprise Staff Collective Agreement 2021, and includes:

A Starting salary between $63,666.72 to $69,574.96 per annum pro-rata ($32.22 to $35.21 per hour) working 3-4 days per week;

  • Superannuation of 11.5% in addition to salary;
  • Contracted role until October 2024
  • A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension by a maximum of three months. All employees are
    expected to sign a confidentiality and code of conduct agreement before the commencement of their employment.

GOALS OF THE ROLE

  • Proactively identify issues the local community are engaged in and passionate about
  • Recruit and organise a broad volunteer base, to upskill and coordinate voter engagement events
  • Support field campaign activities in collaboration with local Greens campaign teams, with a primary focus on doorknocking and
    letterboxing
  • Lead recruitment for yard signs, visibility and election day/prepoll
  • Maintain relationships with interest groups in the electorate, following up issues where appropriate
  • All other duties as directed.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated political judgement, with a particular emphasis on Australian politics
  • Highly developed skills in recruiting and managing volunteers, including experience running voter contact actions during election
    campaigns
  • Excellence in people management skills including the ability to recruit, manage and train new and experienced volunteers
  • Strong interest in or knowledge of issues relevant to Elizabeth’s work in Federal Parliament, and in the Ryan electorate.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines in a
    dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Proven word processing skills, general computing skills (e.g. email and outlook, internet, spreadsheets, google documents,
    NationBuilder or other databases etc.) and digital housekeeping skills (e.g. computer file structures, data archiving and deletion) at an
    advanced level.
  • Desirable:
    • Open license and access to your own car.
    • Experience using Nationbuilder
    • Sound knowledge of Queensland Greens policies
    • Commitment to the Greens charter
    • Understanding of Queensland Greens internal structures and processes

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively identify issues the local community are engaged in and the Member can support with resources
  • Recruit and organise a broad volunteer base, develop training materials and workshops to upskill key volunteers, and coordinate
    supporter engagement events
  • Lead field campaign activities in collaboration with local Greens campaign teams, including doorknocking and phone banking
  • Coordinate and attend mobile offices, stalls, community meetings and events in collaboration with local Greens campaign teams
  • All other duties as directed
