Your new role

  • Full time Ongoing
  • Located at Deakin, ACT
  • Annual salary from $85,120.35 to $91,586.55, plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

The Family Advisor assists practitioners in delivering quality integrated services to RACR clients by providing a stepped care model that includes, information, intake, screening, referrals and case coordination.

In consultation with the Director Post Separation Services (PSS) and Senior Clinician, the Family Advisor is to:

  • Providing holistic, trauma-informed and responsive screening, intake and referral for individuals and families to identify their support needs and refer appropriately to internal (RACR services) and external organisations
  • Organising client appointment times and follow up clients where necessary
  • Being sensitive and responsive to the needs and issues faced by disadvantaged and vulnerable client groups, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families and communities
  • Providing case coordination services in liaison with the practitioner
  • Collecting and maintaining client data in line with RACR policies and procedures and any government statistical database system

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Counselling, Social welfare, Community service, Mental Health or a related field OR Relevant work experience in a similar role with direct client contact; intake work; collaborate with practitioners in a health care or community service setting with trauma-informed, child-and-client-focused approach.
  • Excellent observational, telephonic communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to engage and interact sensitively with a diverse range of people
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess client needs, including communicating with vulnerable clients and demonstrated ability to assess risk and prioritise accordingly.
  • Demonstrated experience in person-centred, trauma-informed supports and responses and knowledge of services available to families and children.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements of mandatory reporting, and issues relating to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals.
