Your new role

  • Full time or Part time fixed contract up to June 2026
  • Located at Wagga Wagga, NSW
  • Annual Salary between $98,185.54 to $102,491.77

The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) Practitioner is responsible for undertaking individual assessments and providing specialist individual and group support to men who use family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV), and women, men, and children with a lived experience of FDSV. This role will work collaboratively with key stakeholders including the Women and Children’s Advocate, families, and external stakeholders to increase safety for women and children.

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Clinical & Community Programs, the Men’s Behaviour Change (MBC) Practitioner is responsible for:

  • Providing individual therapeutic support to men who use family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) and adults and children with a lived experience of FDSV in accordance with RACR service guidelines and assess and respond to risks identified including FDSV, suicide risk and children at risk.
  • Completion of all data requirements including case notes, statistical and administrative records for each session or activity.
  • Developing and reviewing content for groups. Delivering psychoeducation and therapeutic group programs.
  • Developing relationships and maintaining contact with other agencies and key stakeholders for the purpose of referral, networking, and promotion of the service.

What you’ll need to succeed

  1. Experience and qualification in the field of Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Social Science. Current registration/membership with at least one of the following: Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW); Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA); Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA); and Level 2 or above Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
  2. Completed Graduate Certificate in Men’s Behaviour Change Individual and Group-work Interventions or equivalent qualification. Demonstrated experience and skill in facilitating MBCP.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of the drivers of FDSV and the impact of intersectionality on engagement with services. Demonstrated two years professional experience working in the FDSV sector or related work.
  4. Ability to demonstrate a systemic and theoretical approach to relationship counselling and group work (including familiarity with systems theory) and demonstrate an understanding of the practice frameworks applicable to working with individuals, couples, children, and families in reducing the impact of trauma and vicarious trauma.
