We are:

Refugee Advice & Casework Service (RACS), a nonprofit providing essential legal support and advocacy for people who have fled persecution to find safety in Australia. We help refugees, people seeking asylum, stateless individuals and those who are displaced. Our vision is of justice and dignity for and with refugees and since 1987, we've helped tens of thousands of people secure protection in Australia.

RACS provides free, dedicated legal services to people seeking asylum and refugees. Through individual advice sessions, community education and public advocacy, RACS strives to ensure that individuals and families, at risk of persecution or other forms of significant harm, gain access to equal and fair representation before the law, and are granted protection by Australia, and opportunities to seek family unity, in accordance with Australia’s international obligations.

The Role

The primary role of the Events & Partnerships Coordinator is to play a key role in brand awareness, acquisition and engagement through facilitating events, identifying and cultivating opportunities for collaboration with strategic partners, and assisting in the development of workplace giving, peer-to-peer, alumni and ambassador initiatives.

This is a full-time 12-month contract position based in Randwick. Travel throughout metropolitan Sydney travel throughout metropolitan Sydney, and work from our key locations in Parramatta and Auburn as well as any venue or partner locations may be required from time to time.

You will:

  • Coordinate RACS in-person and digital events, including overseeing logistics (eg. tech setups); liaising with venue, catering and speakers where required; arranging for staff or volunteers to help; and/or working with the Digital Marketing Coordinator on ticketing and promotion
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with corporates, creators etc on events, products or campaigns, including assisting in the development of the RACS Ambassador program
  • Respond to occasional requests for RACS to participate in external events, arranging for the relevant staff and/or volunteers to speak or otherwise participate, and providing other related logistical support
  • Source photo/video content for/from events and collaborations, coordinating photography for events, campaigns and staff as required
  • Assist in the development of and maintain RACS's Alumni Program
  • Assist in the development of and maintain a workplace giving product for RACS partners and supporters
  • Facilitate and strengthen peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives for RACS supporters, including increasing participation and opportunities for community fundraising
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for supporters, responding to enquiries and assisting with donations

You are:

A highly organised people person looking for an opportunity to use your passion for marketing, communications or events to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people. The successful candidate will have the following:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field
  • Project coordination skills with a high degree of organisation and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Experience organising events from start to finish
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive with an innovative mindset
  • Team player
  • Demonstrated interest in human rights and justice
  • Ability to travel around Sydney for events and meetings as required

Desirable:

  • Nonprofit fundraising and/or communications experience
  • Corporate partnerships experience
  • Strategic thinking
  • Existing network and contacts, or networking skills, in the legal/human rights or corporate sector
  • Basic photography and/or video production skills
  • Experience in the use of applications such as Microsoft Teams Planner, Salesforce, Excel, Zoom or similar

Salary

The remuneration for the position is at the SCHADS Award rate Level 3 depending on the experience of the successful candidate, plus superannuation contribution and loadings. Salary packaging is available.
