We are seeking an experienced Senior Advocacy Advisor to be an integral part of our Policy and Advocacy Unit at RANZCR. This full-time role, reporting to the General Manager, Policy and Advocacy, plays a pivotal part in shaping and driving our advocacy initiatives to support our strategic objectives and elevate the College’s profile.
What you’ll do:
- Safeguard and enhance RANZCR’s reputation as a trusted voice in the medical community.
- Develop and monitor strategic advocacy plans, aligning them with the College’s overarching goals.
- Proactively create opportunities for College representatives to engage with Health Ministers, influential MPs, and government officials across Australia and New Zealand.
- Build and maintain a network of key stakeholders in health policy and advocacy.
- Track and respond to current policies, legislation, and political developments relevant to clinical radiology and radiation oncology.
- Draft compelling policy and advocacy documents, submissions, and presentations to influence policy design.
- Lead and support impactful promotional and advocacy campaigns, collaborating closely with the Communications Team.
- Conduct thorough research, prepare event reports, and manage media-related tasks as needed.
- Keep key committees, Faculty Councils, and the College Board informed with timely updates on advocacy efforts.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive experience in government relations and advocacy, with a strong grasp of Australian (federal and state) and New Zealand government systems.
- Proven relationship-building and negotiation expertise with a successful track record in aligning diverse stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
- Ability to present confidently to professionals and stakeholders
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational skills and a disciplined approach to time management and project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and manage risks effectively.
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
