About headspace:

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers core areas including mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is the lead agency for headspace Wonthaggi, which is governed by a consortium of local community organisations who provide expertise, support and advice to RAV.

About the role

Reporting to the Centre Manager, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support young people accessing headspace. As a key first point of contact, your responsibilities will involve engaging with, screening, referring and providing brief interventions to young people aged, 12-25 years. You will focus on building positive relationships, coordinating care, assessing needs, and conducting complex risk assessments, mitigating any risks identified. This role also includes participation in regular clinical supervision and to present and discuss cases with the clinical care team.

This opportunity is located at our Wonthaggi headspace Centre and is two part-time, permanent roles, working four (4) days per week with the expectation that one day per week will be an evening shift. The base salary is $95k (pro-rata) per annum.

About you

  • Degree qualified in community services, health, behavioural/social sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in screening activities to determine client needs, and to assist clients to access appropriate services.
  • Experience in the youth and/or mental health sector.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or current full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (desirable).
