The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Foundation is seeking an accomplished leader with experience in grants management to direct our innovative Grants Program. The RCH Foundation is the fundraising arm of the RCH, one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals, and has the vital role of raising, investing and distributing donated funds to the hospital.

The role of the Director, Grants is to manage the Grants Program of the RCH Foundation. The position is responsible for the governance and administration of the Grants Program, for ensuring best practice and for driving improvements and efficiencies. As the principal lead of the online grants management system, the Director ensures data integrity and workflow efficiency for grants staff, applicants, and grantees. The person works with and develops the grants module in Salesforce, capturing all proposals, forecasting forward commitments of approved projects and has oversight of commitments and distributions of funds.

The Director, Grants will be an accomplished leader and manager who directs both grants management strategy and execution. The Director, Grants will possess the professional maturity to hold colleagues accountable to grants management policies and practices, as well as consistently adhere to grant making procedures, including use of the grants management system. This role requires an open and engaging communication style, active listening and the ability to translate ideas and information across diverse stakeholders.

Critical to the role is integrating the work with other RCH Foundation departments. and sharing grants information to develop collaborative partnerships with Fundraising, Finance, and Communications Teams.

The work is supported by a Grants Officer, who reports to this position.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Previous experience in high-level leadership in a grant making body, preferably in the not-for-profit environment
  • Strong administrative skills, with sound knowledge in Word, Excel and Database applications
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, schedules and multiple projects or accounts simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Attention to detail, ability to think strategically and clearly under pressure, working under own initiatives to strict deadlines
  • Commitment to the RCH Foundation’s values and a working style that reflects these
  • Experience in operating effectively in a flexible, team environment with excellent client service skills and focus

Desirable:

  • Experience with Salesforce as a platform for content management.
  • Experience in not-for-profit / charity organisation
