When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it affects the whole family. In the daunting and unpredictable experience that follows diagnosis, a child needs as much stability and support from their family as possible. Redkite is a lifeline for families, providing real emotional, financial and practical support. Because holding it together when your child’s life is in question can feel impossible.
Reporting to the Snr Social Worker – Team Lead, this full-time role will provide intake, assessment, psychosocial support and therapeutic counselling to children and young people (up to 18 yr) with a diagnosis of cancer, their families and support networks.
In addition, this role may be involved in the planning and delivery of both telephone based and face to face support groups. Due to the nature of the work, some evening and weekend hours maybe required with the organisation’s time off in lieu policy to compensate for this.
A tertiary Social Work qualification recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Eligibility for membership of the AASW
An ability to exercise independent professional judgement to facilitate professional and clinical decisions
