Resilient Lismore
Resilient Lismore is a community based charitable organisation supporting Lismore residents and businesses in their recovery by connecting them with volunteer help, donated goods and materials, information and services.
Our purpose is to mitigate the impacts of poverty, disadvantage and suffering that result from natural disasters, through the mobilisation of both spontaneous and formal offers of help in the recovery effort.
Position summary
The Warehouse Officer/Handy-person will be responsible for managing Resilient Lismore’s warehouse and storage containers, ensuring their effective organisation and operation. The role also involves general maintenance tasks at the Resilient Lismore office and basic handy-person duties in the homes of community members receiving support. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining tools and equipment used in the field and within the Resilient Lismore Tool Library.
- Location: Lismore
- Hours: Fixed-term contract, 15 hours per week, 2 days per week (Wednesday and either Thursday or Friday).
- Contract: Until 30 June 2025
- Award: Level 2.3 SCHADS
- Salary: $36.31 per hour, plus 11.5% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse and Storage Management:
- Organise, maintain, and manage the storage facilities, including warehouse and storage containers.
- Ensure accurate records of all items stored and oversee the movement of inventory.
- Implement effective safety measures and risk management procedures in the warehouse.
Handy-person Duties:
- Perform basic maintenance and repair work at the Resilient Lismore office and in the homes of helpseekers as needed.
- Support clients by assisting with minor home repairs, ensuring their living conditions are safe and functional.
Tool Maintenance:
- Conduct regular maintenance, repairs, and safety checks on tools and equipment used within the community and in the Tool Library.
- Assist with equipment and tools' safe handling and storage.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies at all times.
- Identify and mitigate risks within workspaces, storage areas, and when performing handyperson tasks.
Reporting
Reports to the Repair to Return Project Manager
Skills/Experience
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic maintenance or handy-person experience.
- Experience managing storage, inventory, or warehouse operations.
- Ability to work flexibly, independently, and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community members.
- Understanding of risk management and OH&S.
- Current Drivers Licence
Highly Desirable:
- Forklift ticket.
- Experience working in a community-based environment.
- Willingness to work in varied conditions, including both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Experience working with or understanding the needs of vulnerable communities.
