The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations. The RFDS in Queensland provides excellence in and access to primary health care and aeromedical services across the state. Our emergency retrieval service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, delivering the finest care to more than 330,000 Australians each year, that’s one person every two minutes! In addition to aeromedical retrievals of the critically ill or injured, the RFDS also delivers a broad range of essential primary and preventative healthcare services, including telehealth, mental health, oral health and health promotion.

The RFDS (Queensland Section) is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance and Corporate Services team. We are pleased to introduce this newly created role that presents a dynamic and self-directed opportunity. Reporting directly to our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and collaborating with our CEO, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and Directors, you will be instrumental in driving strategic, high-profile, critical enterprise projects.

Your commercially astute insights and recommendations will be vital for our growth and the enhancement of health access and outcomes for regional, rural, and remote communities. As our Senior Financial Analyst, you will;

  • In conjunction with the CFO, scope, develop and implement an end-to-end review of the RFDS (Queensland Section) cost structure using a Zero Cost Budgeting framework
  • Highlight efficiency opportunities
  • Develop the foundations for Activity Based Costing and Rolling forecasting
  • Working with the Data Team to identify and make recommendations on finance planning and reporting systems
  • Deliver project reporting to the ELT, Board Sub-Committee and Board (as required)

This role is a full-time position with the offer of hybrid working and will commence with an initial 2-year contract.

Who are we looking for?

We are in search of a confident self-starter who excels in taking the lead on projects with a direct, hands-on approach. You will be highly inquisitive, methodical, and adept at identifying correlations. You will thrive on collaborating with diverse teams and possess clear, influential communication skills to effectively engage with senior leaders, the ELT, and the Board. In addition to your formal qualifications in Accounting or Finance, you will be CPA/ CA qualified, and you will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in financial planning and reporting
  • Strong understanding of different business models
  • Ability to synthesise and interpret operational data
  • Experience in creating financial data models
  • Strong project management skills to meet timelines
