When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback.
However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state.
While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.
Our services:
Many rural populations have difficulty accessing basic health services, often due to the lack of suitable means of transport. The RFDS Community Transport service addresses this issue by enabling eligible clients' access to free transport from home to health appointments and funded planned activity group sessions.
Reporting to the Regional Lead - Central/West and offered on a full-time fixed-term contract until 31 December 2024, the Volunteer Liaison Officer position provides onsite support in Heathcote and Rochester for the Community Transport hub in their locations, including supervision and support for volunteer drivers, connecting with local stakeholders, and support the delivery of the Community Transport program in the community.
Accountabilities include:
This position will require regular travel and access to a fleet vehicle will be provided for work purposes.
In line with RFDS Victoria's mandatory policies, all employees are required to undergo a National Police Clearance, hold a Working with Children Check and have 3 * Covid vaccinations and annual influenza vaccination.
