We are seeking a full-time Facilities Manager to manage all five RFDS bases within Western Australia and associated housing for regional employees.

About the role

  • Responsible for the direct line management of Base Support Officers and Facilities Coordinator
  • Ensure facilities and grounds comply with Work Health and Safety regulations
  • Identify and manage service providers/ contractors
  • Identify opportunities for facility improvement and seek funding
  • Develop proposals for expenditure and minor/ major works
  • Identify and maintain staff housing and furnishings
  • Undertake inspections of RFDS properties
  • Undertake project management in consultation with relevant parties
  • Develop and implement a maintenance program for all RFDS building assets
  • In consultation with the Finance Team, establish and monitor annual budgets for property maintenance and capital works
  • Some out-of-hours communications and attendance to Jandakot Base as required
  • Travel to regional locations on a regular basis

About you

  • Qualifications and experience in construction or property management
  • Experience in facility management and/or contract management
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate effectively in an environment of change
  • Demonstrated understanding of ethical issues of procurement, including conflict of interest, competition, and transparency
  • Previous experience in leading a small team
  • Well developed financial and budget management skills
  • Well developed planning and implementations skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of key issues relating to the delivery of services in remote locations and to cross cultural communities
  • The ability to travel to regional bases and attend to out of hours calls
  • Experience in Facilities Management systems

About Us

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.

The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.
