About the Role

The Way Back Support Service is an aftercare suicide prevention program, and the Support Coordinator is responsible for providing short term non-clinical support coordination services.

This is a challenging and highly rewarding role. You will integrate, complement and work collaboratively with existing services to improve the immediacy of follow-up responses for people who are at a high risk of suicide, or who have recently attempted suicide in accordance with RFQ’s Models of Practice.

Along with all RFQ staff, the Support Coordinator supports and fosters a culture which values lived experience, promotes genuine and open relationships, conflict resolution, responsibility for self, mutual respect and personal growth founded on support values of empowerment, trust, compassion, resilience, diversity, integrity, and lifelong learning. This role requires on call.

To be successful you will bring the following

  • Diploma or Certificate 4 in Community Services or related discipline and/or significant demonstrated experience working with people with mental illness and/or people who are experiencing ideation/crisis
  • Understanding of suicidal behaviours, suicidal crisis/ideation and its effects on individuals, families and the whole community
  • Ability to develop and implement support plans with clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and contribute positively and constructively to achieve the organisation's objectives
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to advocate for clients and the organisation, and make accurate and timely written records
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and work to achieve team and individual priorities and capacities
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a registered roadworthy and insured vehicle (minimum third-party property)
