Rights & Inclusion Australia (R&IA) is a national Disability Representative Organisation promoting the rights and inclusion of people with disability. Our work is guided by the rights and interests of people with disability as articulated in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
R&IA's purpose is to provide systemic advocacy and leadership to progress the ability of people with disability to gain full access to sustainable, inclusive housing, communities, and society.
Since 2020, we have been leading the ‘Opening the Door’ project. We have created this short-term Project Officer role to support the project as it approaches its conclusion on 31 October 2024.
The ‘Opening the Door’ project is intended to support people with disability to achieve choice and control with their housing options. We continue to do this through the hosting of forums and development of resources. The project serves all people with disability regardless of their type of disability, age, or NDIS participation status .
This Project Officer role is a short-term, casual position is essential for R&IA's successful completion of the 'Opening the Door' project.
The Project Officer position will work directly with the CEO for the remainder of the project, with a focus on the development of resources for publication on R&IA's Let’s talk Opening Doors website. We aim to ensure that our resources provide real value to people through 31 October 2024 and beyond.
Key responsibilities, in collaboration with the CEO:
Location: Remote (work from home).
Contract duration: approx. 3 months, until 31 October 2024.
Hours per week: 15-18 hours per week.
Commencement date: ASAP.
Pay rate: SCHADS Industry Award - Social and community services employee (casual); Level 6, pay point 1.

You will be a self-motivated ‘A’ player, invested in improving the journeys of people with disability in finding safe, sustainable, and accessible housing.
You operate with a high attention to detail and are willing to go the extra mile, all while effectively working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
You have demonstrated experience in content production and possess well-developed Plain English written communication skills.
