The need-to-know…

The Group Support & Engagement Officer plays a crucial role in empowering individuals with serious and persistent mental illness on their recovery journey. You'll deliver dynamic group support activities and provide tailored one-on-one support to help participants thrive.

In this role, you'll work closely with the Peer Worker – Group Services to design and facilitate engaging group activities. You'll also offer personalised support and referrals to other agencies as needed. By fostering community connections and building strong stakeholder relationships, you'll enhance local engagement and support.

A typical day could look like…

  • Collaborate with individuals to achieve their personal goals and aspirations, enhancing their quality of life and psychosocial well-being.
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with Wungening Aboriginal Corporation and Multicultural Services Centre of Western Australia.
  • Design and lead activities to assess individual, group, and community needs, and create workshops that address these needs effectively.
  • Assist with client transportation to and from sessions as needed.
  • Prepare reports for funding bodies and external stakeholders as required.
  • Cultivate new stakeholder relationships to establish accessible referral pathways for the Rivers Program.
  • Support individuals using person-centred, strengths-based, and recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Collaborate with participants, Peer Workers – Group Services, and other stakeholders to design and implement engaging group activities.
  • Offer advocacy, information, and resources to help clients address their physical and mental health needs.
  • Manage crises effectively in partnership with relevant adult mental health services.

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday across various metro areas in North and East Perth, with flexibility to work from home at times. Your schedule will be:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Wednesday: 10:30am - 6:30pm

The need-to-have…

Here at Rise, we nurture potential, but we do need you to have a few tricks up your sleeve including the following:

  • Cert IV or higher in Human Services (e.g., Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care, Allied Health, Community Services) or relevant experience.
  • Experience with Mental Health Recovery and Person-Led practice models.
  • Experience working with and managing teams of Peer Workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to support individuals in achieving a fulfilling and meaningful life.
  • Experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating workshops and activities.
  • Strong initiative, discernment, and judgment while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across various settings.
  • Solid computer literacy and technical skills.

Appointments to this position will be subject to a NDIS Worker Screening Check / NDIS Worker Orientation Module / Working with Children Check / requires a driving licence.

Costs for new checks will be covered and/or reimbursed by Rise.
