About the role

Join Breakthru Disability Services as a Nurse Educator and lead the professional development of our client care team! You'll deliver engaging on-site training, maintain reference libraries, conduct needs analyses, and implement specialty-related education programs including High Intensity Supports and Infection Control. Your mentorship will ensure staff competency and foster a positive learning environment, enabling our team to provide high-quality, person-centred care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of orientation / ongoing development for our client care team.
  • Support the ongoing clinical development of care staff through mentoring or direct supervision as appropriate when further development is identified.
  • Provide direct clinical training at the site level that supports learning and professional standards of practice ensuring staff understand their role and scope of practice.
  • Act as a mentor/role model for staff to undertake learning and competency assessments including High Intensity Supports that support the achievement of an appropriately skilled workforce.
  • Travelling to different sites to provide training and education to staff.
  • Establish and maintain reference libraries for the team's ongoing professional development.
  • Contribute to the development and management of an education and training needs analysis for all Disability Services staff. This includes regular High Intensity Support clinical care competency reviews, clinical skills training, assessments and simulations, and certification of competency.
  • Collaborate with others to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical teaching and education programs that are evidenced based, meet identified learning gaps and priorities and support the provision of person-centred quality care.
  • Provide analysis of monthly reports to management that identify compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Quality, Safety & Risk team through review including liaison with operational staff to consolidate any gaps in client health and disability-related supports.

About you

We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Nursing & minimum of 5 years full-time post qualification experience.
  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to undertake travel to different sites.
  • Knowledge of the NDIS and the disability sector, including the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Framework.
  • Experience in providing education, mentoring and support to staff.
  • Demonstrated advanced written and verbal skills.
  • Sound theoretical knowledge and demonstrated experience in utilising a range of teaching and learning strategies to support staff development including eLearning platforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance in a disability setting.
  • Ability to prepare, deliver and evaluate clinical education programs to geographically dispersed teams.
  • Ability to collect and analyse data.
  • Advanced computer skills and use of software programs to develop and deliver education and training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or equivalent.
