ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION

Scarlet Alliance, Australian Sex Workers Association, is the national peak body representing sex workers and sex worker organisations across the country. We advocate for sex worker rights, fighting for social, legal, political, cultural, health, and economic justice. Our work is built on principles of self-determination, peer leadership and community-driven advocacy.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Communications Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for managing Scarlet Alliance’s communications, ensuring our messages are clear, accessible, and impactful. Reporting to the National Programs Manager, you’ll manage the development of resources, reports, and digital content that promote sex worker rights and highlight our work.

This role is perfect for a creative, organised, and passionate communicator who excels at writing, resource development, and community engagement. You’ll coordinate a variety of materials, from social media content to our annual report, ensuring that Scarlet Alliance’s work is represented in a compelling and professional way.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO

  • Has experience in social media, marketing, communications, or resource development.
  • Can write and edit with clarity, impact, and purpose.
  • Understands how to create engaging, accessible, and visually compelling resources.
  • Can confidently develop reports, health promotion resources, and other key materials.
  • Is confident with digital tools like Google Workspace, Canva, Wordpress or Squarespace, MailerLite, and basic analytics.
  • Can juggle multiple projects, work independently, and take initiative.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, inclusive, and community-driven environment.

LOCATION & FLEXIBILITY

This role is based at our office on Gadigal Land (Newtown), but flexible work arrangements are available. We welcome applications from exceptional candidates from anywhere in unceded Australia. Some evening, weekend work, and interstate travel may be required (depending on your availability).

SALARY & CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT

This is a maximium term (to 30 June 2026) part-time position of 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours/week, 3 days/week) paid at the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 Level 4-5 ($43.08- $49.28 per hour) and subject to the National Employment Standards.
