About the organisation:

Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health is a not-for-profit community health organisation providing a comprehensive range of free and low cost health, wellbeing and community services in early childhood, youth, families, adults, aged and disability. The organisation has a proud history of delivering community health services to the region for over 40 years. Covering an area of over 1700km2 from Sunbury to beyond the borders of Macedon Ranges Shire our 210+ staff and 60+ volunteers are based across three sites at Kyneton, Romsey and Sunbury. Traveling against the traffic, our sites are between 15 minutes and 50 minutes from the airport.

About the role:

An excellent opportunity for a General and Family Violence Counsellor to join a well-established counselling team in Sunbury.

Applicants will have a clear understanding of mental health and family violence issues and treatment, as well as a solid understanding of counselling skills and group work. You will have a trauma informed intersectional approach to counselling, as well as be a proven self-starter with exceptional autonomy skills and ability to in a team environment as part of a wider Community Mental Health unit.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree level qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling or related discipline. Credentialing as a Psychologist, Provisional Psychologist, or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering therapeutic interventions to people experiencing mental health issues and family violence.
  • Experience working with a diverse client group and group facilitation.
  • Sound knowledge of the service system.
